Advocate Mshololo asked to help in royal feud
Zulu royal family members are hoping for high-profile intervention with their legal woes.
They have asked advocate Zandile Mshololo, currently involved in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, to urge Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi to sign court papers for King Misuzulu kaZwelithini.
Some members of the royal court have approached Mshololo and given her the task to speak to Buthelezi to convince him to finally sign the answering affidavits in the case challenging Misuzulu’s ascension to the throne.
Scrolla.Africa spoke to some members who are not allowed to address the media, but who revealed that Mshololo is trusted by the royal family.
They revealed that although she is not a blood relative, her mother and herself were close friends of the king’s mother, the late Queen Regent Mantfombi Shiyiwe kaSobhuza.
“We asked her to talk to Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi so that he could reconcile with the king and sign the papers for the sake of the Zulu nation. Mshololo is the most trusted friend here in the royal family.
“Actually, the friendship was between King Misuzulu’s mother and Ma Mshololo. But Zandile and her twin sister were treated by Queen Mantfombi as if they were her daughters. They even accompanied the queen to Eswatini for a gift collection for the wedding of her daughter, Princess Ntandoyesizwe Tembe,” according to a source.
Mshololo was responsible for organising the legal team to assist Queen Mantfombi in drafting the final will that nominated Misuzulu as next in line to the Zulu throne.
Scrolla.Africa has also learned that Mshololo will assist the new legal team that has been appointed by Misuzulu after he dumped Strauss Daly Inc, which had been representing both himself and Buthelezi.
Attempts to reach Mshololo were unsuccessful.
Last week Misuzulu revealed that he had to dump Strauss Daly and that Buthelezi refused to file the court papers until the newly-appointed Ingonyama Trust chairperson was removed.
It is said that Buthelezi is also angry that Misuzulu appointed former eThekwini deputy mayor Philani Mavundla and Professor Jabulani Maphalala as advisors. The two are among those appointees considered by Buthelezi as his political enemies.
