‘AKA murder case at a critical stage’ — Police

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has called for patience as the investigation into the murder of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his close friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane enters a critical stage.

The request by SAPS comes as fans and the families of the victims mark one year since the tragic incident outside the Wish nightclub in Durban.

Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, speaking on behalf of the police, said the investigating team, comprising specialists, detectives, and analysts, was dedicated to solving the case.

Mathe recognised the concerns regarding the pace of the investigation and the lack of arrests, explaining that the sensitivity of the case necessitates limited public communication.

To address the frustrations of those affected, Mathe said the investigation team has made significant progress, with some suspects linked to the murders already detained for unrelated crimes.

Others remain at large, with law enforcement actively pursuing leads.

The loss of AKA and Tebello has deeply affected their loved ones and fans, with the Wish nightclub, the scene of the crime, having since shut down.

Tebello’s father, Sylvester Motsoane, shared the impact of his son’s death on the family, particularly on Tebello’s mother, who passed away eight months after his death.
