Another ‘sticky’ situation in ABC Motsepe League game
- A Limpopo ABC Motsepe League match was canceled after Maruleng Celtics used sticks as corner flags, sparking a dispute with officials and the opposing team.
- Attempts to fix the issue failed when incorrect flags were brought back, leading to the game being abandoned, further tarnishing the league’s reputation.
Safa’s Limpopo ABC Motsepe League has yet again been marred by controversy as another game was called off for a bizarre reason.
The integrity of the third division league continues to be threatened with games regularly being suspended.
With a number of matches being called off due to dubious refereeing calls in recent weeks, this past weekend saw the game between Maruleng Celtics and Selwane White Vultures abandoned for an entirely different reason, according to FarPost.
The Celtics opted to use sticks as makeshift corner flags, leading to a dispute with both referees and the visiting team.
Selwane players approached the officials along with the match commissioner to raise the issue in an attempt to find a way forward.
The hosts then agreed to bring the correct flags and requested that the game be delayed while they did so. Unfortunately, incorrect flags were brought back and the match had to be cancelled.
