Arteta fumes after title damaging deadlock
Arsenal’s Premier League title aspirations took another hit following a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday as Mikel Arteta’s frustrations boiled over post-match.
A dominant day’s work by the Gunners was not enough to claim all three points, as Manchester United went ahead through Bruno Fernandes on the brink of half-time.
The goal came from the Red Devils’ first attempt on target and gave Ruben Amorim’s side the confidence they needed to come out stronger after the break.
The Portuguese’s opener was cancelled out by a stellar Declan Rice strike. But with just 15 minutes to play, neither side were able to find another moment of magic.
After three games without a win, the Gunners sit 15 points off leaders Liverpool; and this time Arteta was in no mood to comment on the status of their title challenge.
Speaking to Sky Sports post-match, the Spaniard stormed out of the interview when asked whether the deficit had gone out of his side’s reach.
Elsewhere on the day, Chelsea were 1-0 winners over Leicester City while Tottenham Hotspur came back from behind twice to claim a point from their home clash with Bournemouth.
