Big dreams for new Banyana player
South Africa capped the 18-year-old at under-17 and under-20 levels before she made her Banyana debut at the 2022 Cosafa Women’s Championship.
Mogale has been gradually staking her claim in the senior national team.
“It wasn’t easy at first because I lacked confidence. The senior national team is more diverse, with some players playing in big leagues overseas,” Mogale told Scrolla.Africa.
“The standard has to be high for them and me, but what helped me progress and be called up to other senior national camps was believing in what I could do.”
As a big fan of Banyana’s captain, Refiloe Jane, Mogale has been trying to handle the pressure of being a new player on the national team.
“There will always be pressure, but so far there’s been improvement at every camp,” she said.
“The player who inspires me is Refiloe Jane, but they all inspire me. Their fighting spirit is out of this world, and they are very welcoming.”
She shared her lofty ambitions of helping Banyana qualify for major tournaments, including the Fifa Women’s World Cup and the Olympics.
She said coach Desiree Ellis is introducing the young players to the senior national team, which helps build and continue Banyana Banyana’s legacy.
“We could have qualified for these Olympics. Our coach will go back to the drawing board and fix where we lacked so the upcoming generation can change things by actually qualifying,” she said.
Mogale is concentrating on her club commitments with JVW and staying in Ellis’s plans.
