• A man in a road rage incident attacked a schoolgirl trying to stop him from moving a car.

• The businessman was traced to Nigel and later arrested. 

A Duduza businessman was arrested after attacking a teenage girl during a shocking road rage incident involving a school transport vehicle.

In a video that has gone viral, the man is seen blocking a scholar transport vehicle.

He jumps out of his bakkie and confronts the driver while the learners are still in the car.

He overpowers the driver and tries to disengage the handbrake to move the vehicle out of his way. A female learner sitting in the back tries to stop him, but he lashes out and repeatedly hits her.

A woman travelling with the man pleads with him to stop and eventually convinces him to go back to his bakkie.

Kasi Crime Unit member Bongani Buthelezi said the fight started at an accident scene where only one lane was open to traffic.

“The bakkie driver allegedly refused to give way and demanded the scholar transport reverse to let him through,” he said.

“When that didn’t work, he turned violent and manhandled the driver, who got out and took the car keys with him.”

The businessman then tried to release the handbrake, but the learners pushed back. That’s when he started attacking them.

He eventually fled the scene.

Buthelezi said a security company in the area helped trace the man’s vehicle to Nigel. He was taken back to Duduza, where the victims opened a case at the local police station.

Ekurhuleni police spokesperson Warrant Officer Majang Skalkie said the 38-year-old man has been arrested for assaulting the 18-year-old girl.
