After a humiliating 101-run loss on Tuesday, the Proteas were written off. But on Thursday, they bounced back in style to crush India by 51 runs in New Chandigarh.
Quinton de Kock was the star of the show.
The wicketkeeper-batsman went on the attack from the start. He smashed 90 runs off just 46 balls, hitting five fours and seven sixes.
Donovan Ferreira added late fireworks with a quick 30 runs off 16 balls.
This helped South Africa post a massive total of 213/4.
When India came out to bat, the Proteas bowlers were ready.
Ottneil Baartman was deadly. He ripped through the Indian lineup, taking four wickets for just 24 runs.
Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen also took crucial early wickets to keep the pressure on.
India struggled to keep up. Tilak Varma fought hard for his 62 runs, but he had little support.
Hardik Pandya struggled to find his rhythm, scoring a slow 20 off 23 balls.
India was eventually bowled out for 162.
The series is now tied at 1-1. The action moves to Dharamsala for the third match on Sunday.
