Five star Gunners thrash the champions
Arsenal started and ended the evening in style as their unbeaten streak in the Premier League extended to 14 games with a 5-1 demolition of Manchester City at the Emirates on Sunday.
Kai Havertz found his captain Martin Odegaard for the opener inside just two minutes before Gabriel Martinelli thought he had made it two, moments later.
His dink was ruled out for offside and the visitors would slowly find some momentum.
Erling Haaland levelled matters early on in the second period, but once Thomas Partey gave the Gunners the lead again, there would be no looking back.
Three goals followed in the final thirty minutes, with Mikel Arteta’s side utterly dominant in the closing exchanges.
City have conceded four or more goals in a game for the fourth time this season, the most times in a single campaign in Pep Guardiola’s managerial career.
The Citizens have conceded 53 goals in 36 matches in all competitions so far this season, just one fewer than in their 59 games last year.
The Gunners find themselves second, six points behind Liverpool who still have a game in hand. City, on the other hand, are fourth and six points behind Nottingham Forest who occupy third spot.
Forest were big winners over Brighton this weekend with a 7-0 thumping while the Reds beat Bournemouth 2-0, Everton hammered Leicester 4-0 and Manchester United were beaten 2-0 by Crystal Palace.
Chelsea will host West Ham on a derby day edition of Monday night football.
