Heavy hitting in Hyderabad as Abhishek puts Punjab away
The Punjab Kings batted first and it was captain Shreyas Iyer who starred again with a stellar 82 off 36 deliveries.
Their 40 runs in the last three overs featured four sixes off the last four balls from Marcus Stoinis, on what was an off night for Mohammed Shami and every other bowler who dared to run in.
In response, at the top of the order arrived Abhishek, with a tall order to say the least. And boy would he deliver.
The 24-year-old, born in Punjab, would very quickly make it a night to forget for the Kings. His innings came at a strike rate of 256 and featured 14 fours and 10 sixes.
In supoort, fellow opener Travis Head knocked away 66 off 37 before Heinrich Klaasen hammered the hosts home with nine deliveries to spare.
A stunning Saturday, that also saw Lucknow Super Giants get one over the Gujarat Titans, will be followed by another double header on Sunday.
The battle of the royals will take place first as Rajasthan take on Bengaluru before the Delhi Capitals host the Mumbai Indians in the late game.
All the action will be broadcast live on SuperSport.
