• Jabu Mahlangu has asked his lawyers to file for divorce after years of growing apart from his wife.

• The couple, who share two daughters, have been living under the same roof but apart since 2020.

Retired football star Jabu Mahlangu, also known as Jabu Pule, has ended his 21-year marriage to Nomxolisi Priscilla Songame.

Sources close to the couple say the former Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United player, who now works as a sports analyst, has asked his lawyers to start the divorce process, Sunday World reported.

Mahlangu and Songame have two daughters. Although they continued living together at their Brakpan home, they have been sleeping in separate bedrooms since 2020.

Insiders revealed the couple hoped to fix their marriage but eventually realised their efforts were not working. Friends said their relationship slowly fell apart due to emotional distance, not sudden problems.

The situation worsened last year when the bank threatened to repossess their home over missed payments, adding even more pressure to their marriage.

Mahlangu has reportedly told family and friends that he no longer has any feelings for Songame and does not believe they can rekindle their relationship.

Songame has confirmed the split but did not share why they decided to part ways. Despite the break-up, Mahlangu has promised to support his now-unemployed wife with maintenance.

The pair have agreed to sell their home and divide the proceeds fairly, along with their other possessions.
