Khumalo exposes cop’s secret visit to KT Molefe’s mansion

- Lieutenant General Dumisani Khumalo showed CCTV footage of a police officer visiting alleged drug boss Katiso Molefe’s home before his arrest.
- The commission also heard evidence suggesting possible coordination between senior officers involved in Molefe’s case.
Lieutenant General Dumisani Khumalo returned to the Madlanga Commission on Tuesday with new evidence about alleged corruption in the police.
He presented CCTV footage from 27 November last year showing Sergeant F.E. Nkosi arriving at the Sandhurst home of alleged drug and smuggling boss Katiso “KT” Molefe in a white BMW state vehicle.
Nine minutes later, Nkosi was seen leaving with Molefe. In his hand was a white paper bag that he did not have when he arrived. The contents of the bag are still unknown.
Khumalo told the commission the visit took place ten days before Molefe’s arrest and may point to “a possible exchange of money or documents”.
He also presented licence-plate records showing Nkosi’s BMW travelling several times behind a white Toyota Hilux registered to former deputy national commissioner Shadrack Sibiya. Khumalo said this pattern suggested coordination between the two officers.
Khumalo told the commission that his intelligence team excluded the Hawks from the Molefe arrest because of leaks. “The leaks were not from criminals outsmarting us, but from senior officers working with them,” he said.
The hearing was briefly paused after parts of Khumalo’s witness statement appeared online. Officials said they were concerned about the safety of witnesses before continuing.
The commission will continue this week as investigators look into what Sergeant Nkosi may have carried out of Molefe’s house that night.
