King Mswati gifts King Misuzulu with army chefs amid safety fears

  • King Mswati III sent nine army-trained chefs to cook for King Misuzulu amid fears of a plot to poison him.
  • The chefs work from KwaKhangelamankengane Palace and deliver food to Mashobeni Palace as security concerns grow over the Zulu King’s safety.

King Mswati III of Eswatini has sent nine chefs, all former army members, to cook for Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini after concerns arose over his safety.

Sources told Scrolla.Africa that the chefs arrived shortly after reports surfaced that a plot against the Zulu King’s life might involve his food. This comes after his former chef, Katlego Msibi, was allegedly forced out by Sibongile Mdletshe, a director in the King’s office, while in Pongola.

“Those chefs are based at KwaKhangelamankengane Royal Palace, the home of King Misuzulu’s late mother, Queen Mantfombi kaSobhuza. It’s hard to control them because they are former members of the Eswatini army. They know their story,” a source revealed.

Once they prepare the King’s food, the chefs transport it in a special minivan to Mashobeni Royal Palace, where King Misuzulu now resides. This palace is a revival of King Shaka’s historic Mashobeni Palace in Nongoma.

King Mswati and his siblings grew increasingly concerned about King Misuzulu’s security after his protection team was reduced from 12 to just five bodyguards with only three vehicles. The Zulu King has since raised concerns with President Cyril Ramaphosa, claiming that Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has ignored his pleas for more security.
