Nongoma – Residents of the northern KwaZulu-Natal town fear for their relatives in Gauteng hostels as local school violence spreads to Johannesburg. The conflict began at Isihlahlasenkosi High School, where students were killed. “The infighting then turned into tribal clashes as parents were fighting in revenge over the death of learners. It has now reached Gauteng and people are being killed,” a community member said anonymously. Scrolla.Africa previously reported on the school chaos, with students carrying weapons.
Durban – Criminals killed a mother by throwing a car battery at her moving vehicle on the N3 near the Pavillion Shopping Centre. Madhumathie Bunwarie died returning from a funeral on Sunday. The premier’s office called it a “cruel act of criminality”. Spokesperson Bongani Gina urged motorists to be vigilant when approaching bridges on the N3. Similar incidents years ago led to police monitoring bridges on the N2, M4 North, and other routes.

He said in his engagement with the station commander, he wants to know:
* Why is Inanda PS in the top five for over 10 years in terms of murder?
* Does the station have a murder prevention strategy? If so, what does it entail?
* What resources and help is needed to end the high cases of murder in their precinct?
