KZN news bites: Shembe and Indian leaders break ground for peace project

Groutville – Shembe Church leader Mduduzi Nyazilwezulu Shembe joined the KwaZulu-Natal government for the sod-turning ceremony of the Sivananda World Peace Foundation’s International Peace, Yoga & Wellness Centre. The event marked the start of construction on a centre aimed at promoting peace, wellness and spiritual growth. His Holiness Unyazi Lwezulu praised Prince Ishwar Ramlutchman Mabheka Zulu for his leadership role in the foundation and its ongoing support for the church. He said the partnership between the foundation and the Shembe Church has brought many benefits to the church and the wider community.
Ethekwini – The eThekwini Water and Sanitation Contact Centre will be rebuilt to modernise its system and tackle long-standing issues. The upgrade includes a WhatsApp channel linked to a faults man system that will allow automatic fault logging and better customer feedback. The revamp will be carried out in the 2025/26 financial year. Acting Deputy City Manager for Trading Services Ednick Msweli presented the report at a recent Executive Committee meeting. He said the delay in upgrading the system was caused by budget constraints.
UKZN – The International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) has released an updated warning about the misuse of topical corticosteroids. It called out skin-bleaching as a growing public health problem around the world and called for urgent action.
