KZN news bites: Singer apologises for jumping on Maskandi legend’s stage

Hlabisa – Young singer Naledi Aphiwe has said sorry to award winning maskandi artist Gatsheni Ndlovu after jumping on stage while he was still performing. The incident happened at the Mthandeni Maskandi Summer Experience at Mdletsheni clan in Hlabisa at the weekend. In a statement on Tuesday, Aphiwe, who was discovered by US star Chris Brown, said she didn’t mean to disrespect Gatsheni and looks up to him as a big brother and respected maskandi artist.
Van Reenen Pass – KZN road officials are investigating a horror crash that killed 18 people on the N3. The accident involved a truck and minibus taxi at Van Reenen Pass.
Melmoth – People living in Ndabazensangu village near Melmoth in northern KwaZulu-Natal are scared after a deadly storm hit their area. Lightning struck the village’s biggest gum tree on Monday afternoon, setting it on fire. Firefighters had to rush to stop the flames from spreading to nearby houses.
Pietermaritzburg – Security guards stopped Ingonyama Trust CEO advocate Vela Mngwengwe from entering his offices on Tuesday morning when he tried to force his way in. Later, acting chief financial officer Siyamdumisa Vilakazi managed to enter after threatening not to pay the security company. King Misuzulu’s people told the guards to report Vilakazi to the police for trespassing and threats.
