KZN news bites: Snow could fall after Comrades Marathon

Celani Sikhakhane brings you KwaZulu-Natal’s latest news.
Durban: Runners in the Comrades Marathon can breathe easy, the weather will be mild and clear for the race, but snow may fall in KwaZulu-Natal soon after. The South African Weather Service says conditions during the race will be partly cloudy, with mild to warm temperatures and strong winds. This was confirmed on Friday by KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, at a media briefing in Durban. He warned that cold fronts may hit parts of the province after the event, bringing possible snowfall to higher ground.
Qhudeni: Inkatha Freedom Party MP Khethamabala Sithole will be buried on Sunday at his rural home in Qhudeni, near Nquthu. He was gunned down last week at Buyafuthi Hostel in Katlehong, Gauteng. The motive for his killing is still unknown.
Pietermaritzburg: The KwaZulu-Natal Legislature has launched a new Speakers Forum to improve cooperation between the province and municipalities. Speaker Nontembeko Boyce said the Forum is a major step towards better oversight, honest leadership and stronger democracy.
