‘Lack of good decisions’ cost Chiefs — Nabi
- Amakhosi recorded their fourth defeat of the season during their match in the Mother City.
- The team continues to struggle, adding pressure as the campaign progresses.
Kaizer Chiefs manager Nasreddine Nabi has opened up on what he believes went wrong for his side in their 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City FC on Sunday.
Amakhosi suffered their fourth defeat of the campaign in the Mother City with Darwin Gonzalez getting the winner for the hosts.
“We feel that it’s not a game that we deserve to lose. Unfortunately, that’s football because we feel that we had control of the game, most of the time we were high,” Nabi told reporters.
“We were pressing well. We were creating opportunities, but we had a lack of good decisions, especially in the last third and especially in the first half.”
“Sometimes, we took extra touches instead of playing early. Sometimes, playing too early instead of waiting.”
Nabi added that he will be going back to the drawing board to address his side’s concerns in front of goal, with more chances needing to be created.
“It’s been an issue that when we fail to score, we have to create a lot of opportunities. But this is football. The only thing we can do is go back and work,” he explained.
“I don’t think that there is a need to talk about the defence because even the goal at the beginning was our own throw-in. It’s like a set piece.”
“Our defenders have to go up. Probably we need to work better on the rest defence and everything after the throw-in. It’s a counter-attack which can happen, and the opportunities that we got had we managed to score one or two goals, we would not be talking about the defenders right now.”
