Man starts Cwecwe foundation without parents consent
- Cwecwe’s parents found out that a man named Mehmet registered a foundation using their daughter’s name without permission.
- The family is creating their own official foundation and warns the public against supporting unauthorised projects exploiting their daughter’s identity.
The parents of seven-year-old Cwecwe, who was allegedly raped at Bergview College in Matatiele, are angry after finding out that a man registered a foundation in their daughter’s name without their consent.
Cwecwe’s mother shared screenshots on Facebook showing conversations with the individual, identified only as Mehmet.
“This person has audaciously claimed that Cwecwe is not our daughter’s name and has threatened us. If there had not been widespread awareness of Cwecwe’s assault, how would he know her name? Cwecwe is our daughter’s name, and we will fiercely protect her legacy from those who seek to exploit it for profit,” they said.
The parents said they would report the matter to the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission if the foundation was registered without their permission.
They said that they reject any attempts to raise funds using their daughter’s name for profit.
According to the parents, Mehmet even tried to pressure them into becoming CEO of the unauthorised foundation.
The family revealed they are in the process of registering their own foundation and urged the public not to support any other organisations claiming to represent Cwecwe.
They called on people to stand with them in protecting their daughter’s name and legacy from exploitation.
