Maskandi star says sorry for insulting older fans
- Mthandeni apologises for attacking fans born in the 70s and 80s, calling them toxic and unsupportive.
- The star’s outburst came after his big “Mthandeni Maskandi Summer Experience” show on 5 January.
Popular Maskandi singer Mthandeni “Igcokama” Manqele has apologised after insulting his older fans in a heated outburst.
The trouble started when Mthandeni lost his cool at his “Mthandeni Maskandi Summer Experience” show on Sunday, where he attacked fans born in the 1970s and 1980s, calling them toxic and saying they didn’t support him.
In a new video that’s now going viral, Mthandeni tried to explain himself. He said people often misunderstand his words and wait for him to make mistakes.
He apologised for saying he couldn’t thank fans born in the 70s, 80s and early 90s because they hadn’t supported him.
He had claimed only fans born in the 2000s helped make him successful.
His rival in the Maskandi music scene, Welile Mchunu, wasn’t happy with Mthandeni’s behaviour and called it disrespectful.
The drama has split Mthandeni’s fans on social media. Some are defending what he said, while others say they’re disappointed in him.
All this comes just as Mthandeni’s career is hitting new heights. His song “Gucci” with Mawhoo has been topping the charts on Khozi FM and breaking records since the start of the year.
