Ngizwe Mchunu says gay community hates him for telling the truth

  • The South African Human Rights Commission has taken Ngizwe Mchunu to the Equality Court after he refused to apologise for remarks against the LGBTQI community.
  • Mchunu says he stands by his comments, claiming he is now “hated” by the gay community for defending Zulu culture.

Self-proclaimed Bhinca Nation President Ngizwe Mchunu says the gay community now hates him for no reason after he refused to apologise for his comments against them.

In a video circulating on social media, Mchunu claims gay people are “liars” and that they “hate him for telling the truth.”

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) found his comments to be hate speech and instructed him to issue a public apology. Mchunu refused, telling the commission they would get his apology “from his grave.”

He said he did not understand how the SAHRC reached its conclusion and insisted he would not back down. “They can shove it,” he said, adding that his words were meant to defend Zulu culture.

“I am now the most hated person by the gay community. It’s really bad in my life because of these people who are lying about me. They even reject their real gender and claim they are girls while God created them as males,” Mchunu said.

The SAHRC has since referred the case to the Equality Court. The decision was finalised on Monday, 13 October, after Mchunu’s public defiance.

Mchunu, a former Ukhozi FM presenter known for his outspoken cultural views, caused outrage after criticising a same-sex couple for wearing traditional attire at their wedding.

The couple, Simon Sean Nhlapo and Crosby Jodwana, were celebrated online for their ceremony, which featured both Zulu and Xhosa regalia.
