The Nedbank Cup isn’t just about bragging rights — it’s about serious money, too.

A total of R20-million in prize money is up for grabs in this year’s tournament, and it’s being shared out based on how far each team makes it.

The biggest slice goes to the winner, who will walk away with R7-million.

The runner-up takes home R2.5-million, and the two semi-final losers each get R1-million.

Even teams that only reach the quarter-finals score a solid R400,000 each.

And those knocked out in the early rounds still pocket R250,000, just for taking part.

But it’s not just the teams cashing in — fans can also win big.

Thanks to the new Goals vs Saves competition, every goal and every save adds cash to a separate prize pot for fans.

During the earlier rounds, every goal adds R20,000 and every save R10,000. From the semi-finals onward, it goes up to R30,000 per goal and R20,000 per save.

In the quarter-finals alone, 23 goals and 30 saves have already added up to R7.3-million in potential fan winnings.

The final is set to be a blockbuster, with Kaizer Chiefs taking on Orlando Pirates in the first Soweto Derby final in nearly 20 years.

It’s happening at Moses Mabhida Stadium on 10 May, and tickets are expected to go fast.
