Six-year-old finds granny cop dead

  • A six-year-old boy found his grandmother, a police sergeant, dead in their Limpopo home on Sunday morning.
  • Police are looking for her boyfriend who disappeared with her car after they came home together on Saturday night.

A young boy found his grandmother, a police officer, dead in their home.

The 47-year-old sergeant from Rooiberg police station in Waterberg was found by her grandson on Sunday morning, 26 January.

She had come home with her boyfriend the night before. When her grandson found her body the next morning, both the boyfriend and her car were gone.

Neighbours called the police after making the discovery.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Thakeng said they found the sergeant’s private car abandoned about 50km from her home, along Thabazimbi Road near Koedoeskop.

Police aren’t sure why she was killed but say it might be domestic violence.

Limpopo’s police chief, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has ordered officers to do everything in their power to find the killer.

Police want to talk to 43-year-old Malebye Ben Molefe, who they think might know what happened.

Anyone with information can call Colonel Simon Mogale at 071 479 2329 or the Crime Stop hotline at 08600 10111. People can also use the MySAPS App.
