TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi wants Benni McCarthy to take over as Bafana Bafana coach.

Sukazi says McCarthy is his first choice to replace Hugo Broos, who said he would retire after the Fifa World Cup.

The South African Football Association has not yet announced what will happen next.

Sukazi praised McCarthy’s work in South Africa and Kenya during TS Galaxy’s squad launch in Pretoria.

McCarthy finished second in the league with AmaZulu and won the MTN8 with Cape Town City.

Sukazi also praised the work he is doing with his current team in Kenya.

“If you ask me, I will go for Benni McCarthy, no doubt about it,” he said, TimesLive reported.

Sukazi said he respected other possible choices, including Pitso Mosimane, but would still pick McCarthy.

He also said Broos had nothing more to offer Bafana.

Sukazi criticised Broos for questioning Mbekezeli Mbokazi’s move to the United States.

Broos had said the league was poor and that Mbokazi should have moved to a stronger competition.

Sukazi said Mbokazi later became one of Bafana’s best players at the World Cup.

He also accused Broos of speaking unfairly about Relebohile Mofokeng before his move to Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Sukazi said Broos’s comments about Mofokeng being too weak could affect how his new club sees him.

He believes Mofokeng was not part of Broos’s first plans at the World Cup.

Sukazi said Themba Zwane’s red card gave Mofokeng the chance to play after he had gone to the tournament mainly to learn.
