• Savant Foundry has officially launched in Johannesburg, expanding from Cape Town to support tech startups with funding, mentorship and business training.

• The City says the partnership will grow youth and black-owned businesses and make Joburg a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The City of Johannesburg has welcomed Savant Foundry, a leading name in technology and innovation, to its growing network of entrepreneurs and startups.

The launch was held at Workshop17 Firestation in Rosebank. The move is part of the City’s plan to grow a stronger innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Savant Foundry, previously known as the Savant Technology Incubator, helps hardware and deep-tech startups grow by offering funding, mentorship and partnerships. Its programmes help innovators turn their ideas into real products ready for the market.

Mathopane Masha, the City’s Economic Development Executive Director, said the partnership marks a new chapter for Johannesburg.

“This partnership with Savant Foundry ushers in a new era for the City’s innovation ecosystem,” said Masha. “We’re building a knowledge-driven economy that creates real opportunities for our youth and entrepreneurs.”

Entrepreneurs who join Savant Foundry will have access to funding networks, product development support and business leadership training. The aim is to help startups move from prototypes to profit.

Tech business owner Tebogo Photoane described the launch as “a powerful step in positioning Johannesburg as a hub for innovation and tech entrepreneurship.”

The Johannesburg hub marks Savant Foundry’s expansion from Cape Town into a national platform, supported by the Technology Innovation Agency.

The City says the initiative will support inclusive innovation by opening doors for youth, women and black-owned tech businesses, positioning Joburg as Africa’s gateway to technology and growth.
