Tshwane councillor tells community group to ‘f*ck off’

  • DA councillor Pillay was caught on tape swearing at community groups being pushed out of Eersterus Hall.
  • NGOs say they’re being forced out to make way for private clinics after nine years of community work.

A DA PR councillor in Eersterus, Tshwane has shocked residents by swearing at them in a fight over a community hall that’s being turned into a private clinic.

The trouble started when the Concerned Parents Association of Eersterust asked councillor Novin Pillay about plans to push community groups out of the hall.

Nine years ago, then Tshwane mayor Kgosientsho Ramokgopa gave the unused building to local groups fighting drug abuse and other social problems.

Now the NGOs say they’re being forced out to make way for a clinic allegedly owned by Pillay’s friends.

In recordings that Scrolla.Africa has heard, Pillay can be heard swearing in Afrikaans at community members.

“You’re asking me for shit. That’s what you’re doing. You’re asking me for shit, man. You were together with them but you still have the audacity to ask me for such shit.

“I was part of a defamation plan because they f*cking ask for shit in that defamation plan, I don’t even f*cking know what happened there. I don’t f*cking know what Fatima did.

“Near death. I don’t know what the f*ck you’re talking about,” she said.

Pillay refused to comment when contacted.

The NGO’s Desiree Fisher said they’re being treated unfairly.

“Over the years we fixed and safeguarded the centre, it has now become their new playground pushing community projects out.

“We are shocked and disappointed by Pillay as we have worked with her and she understands our challenges,” she said.

DA Tshwane caucus leader Celliers Brink said he doesn’t know about the incident.

“I don’t know the context of the recording, neither is it apparent from listening to it,” he said.
