Poco C40 review

By Toby Shapshak

Poco is a name in smartphones that most South Africans haven’t heard of yet. But that doesn’t mean they don’t make good phones. They are well known internationally and are the latest big name to start selling in South Africa.

The newly launched Poco C40 handset is a good example of the phone maker’s quality handsets. It has a large 6.71-inch Dot Drop display made from Corning Gorilla Glass that features 1650 x 720 HD+ resolution.

It has a dual 13MP main camera on the back plus a 2MP depth camera. They can record 1080p high-def video at 30fps. Meanwhile, the selfie camera is a respectable 5MP.

Headphone proponents will be pleased it has a now rare 3.5mm headphone jack.

The 64GB model has 4GB RAM and is on sale for a reasonable R3,199. It is a dual-sim handset, so you can have two different numbers.

Lastly, it has a large 6,000 mAh battery, which can be charged with a 18W fast-charger, although it ships with a 10W charger. It’s worth buying the faster charger for the shorter charging time

Poco says the battery will give you 32 hours of calling, 86 hours of music, 20 hours of watching video and 17 hours of navigation.

Scrolla.Africa is giving away five of the newly launched Poco C40 handsets.
