What are the two most important things on a smartphone in this cold Eskom winter? A big screen and a long, long battery life.
Samsung’s Galaxy A14 is that phone. It’s 6.6-inch display has more than enough space movies and games. The 1080 x 2408 resolution display (known as FHD+) is bright and clear – and big.
Then there’s the ample 5,000mAh battery, which will get you through not only the day but load shredding too. Better still, it has fast charging with a USB-C cable, up to 15W, which will juice up your phone quickly.
The three-camera array on the rear is impressive. There is the 50MP main camera, plus a 5MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro camera. The combination is really good, giving you excellent images – including the blurred background of portrait mode.
The 13MP selfie camera is equally impressive.
On top of the bright display and serious battery, the Galaxy A14 also has another must-have feature: a fingerprint reader. This is discretely hidden under the side power button, a clever way of adding additional security to the phone.
It’s 2GHz Octa-Core processor gives the oomph, while it has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Like all Samsungs, it supports up to a 1TB MicroSD card.
The Galaxy A14 is a large-screen, large-battery smartphone.
